Edmund Czihak (born June 20, 1944 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a former German motorcycle racer .

Career

Czihak attracted attention with his only start in the motorcycle world championship at the Eifel race on the Nürburgring . There he competed on a Yamaha in the 500 cc class at the German Grand Prix .

This race was held on the dangerous Nordschleife and boycotted by the top drivers Phil Read , Giacomo Agostini and Gianfranco Bonera due to a lack of safety . The race was finally won by Czihak ahead of his compatriots Helmut Kassner and Walter Kaletsch , which to date is the only victory of a German rider in the premier class of the motorcycle world championship.

Czihak drove the seven laps on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring or 159.845 km in 1: 12: 19.9 hours; Average speed 132.6 km / h.

Despite good prospects for further success, Czihak ended his active career a little later.
