Edmund F. McCaffrey

Edmund F. McCaffrey OSB (born January 9, 1933 in Savannah - † November 13, 2016 ) was an American clergyman. He was Abbot of Belmont-Mary Help of Christians and first pastor of St. Michael's Parish in Charleston .

Life

Edmund F. McCaffrey joined the Congregation of Benedictine at and received on 23 May 1959, the priestly ordination . He was elected fourth abbot of Exemten Abbey of Belmont-Mary Help of Christians on March 2, 1970 . Pope Paul VI confirmed the election on March 31 of the same year. On June 3, 1975, he resigned from his position.

He later left the Benedictine order and was incardinated in the Diocese of Charleston in 1994 .
