Edmund Herr (born June 12, 1937 ) is a former German soccer player. The player, who mostly acted as an outside runner in the World Cup system at that time, completed a total of 40 league games in the soccer Oberliga Süd in two rounds (1957/58, 1959/60) with the Stuttgarter Kickers and scored four goals.

Career

Edmund Herr played soccer in the Swabian amateur area at Sportvg Feuerbach and in 1957 moved to the Stuttgart Kickers in the contract player area of the Oberliga Süd. Furthermore, were also Manfred Eglin , Walter Hüttenhofer and Lothar Weise come to Kickers. On November 3, 1957, Herr came under coach Oswald Pfau for his first assignment in the first-class league when he was in the starting line-up at the home game in the Oberliga Süd against Kickers Offenbach with a 2-3 defeat in front of 9,000 spectators. In his debut season, Herr came on 16 appearances and scored three goals. The Kickers were relegated to the 2nd League South.

Reinforced by the newcomers Ludwig Hinterstocker and Heinz Lettl , he immediately returned to the league by winning the championship in 1958/59 in the 2nd division. Herr had completed 32 league appearances with two goals. But even in 1959/60 the league proved to be too big a sporting hurdle, again the Kickers could not prevent relegation. Herr had played 24 rounds with one goal at Pál Csernai's side .

In his fourth Kickers year, 1960/61, with Rolf Steeb and Knut Tagliaferri under coach Karl-Heinz Grindler, hopeful new players could be built in, but with the 8th place they were far from being promoted. With 33 games and seven goals, Herr was one of the top performers of the "blues".

After four seasons with the Kickers and over 100 missions, Herr moved to league rivals 1. FC Pforzheim for whom he was active until 1967. In the last two years of the 2nd League South, 1961-1963, Pforzheim was one of the best teams in the Oberliga Unterbau in the south. In 1962 they took 3rd place and in 1963 4th place. In the newly created Regionalliga Süd , however, they fought to stay in the league, which they could not fend off in the fourth year, 1966/67, but with 18th place and were relegated to the Baden amateur camp. After 99 regional league appearances with three goals, the higher-class career for Edmund Herr was over.

Then he worked again with the Kickers and trained the juniors there.
