Edmund von Sigel

Edmund Sigel , from 1864 von Sigel , (born April 19, 1805 in Dornhan , Oberamt Sulz, † November 30, 1866 in Stuttgart ) was a German Protestant theologian .

Edmund Sigel was the son of the chief bailiff Christoph Friedrich Sigel (1761-1814) and Elisabeth Salome Schott. In 1835 he married Luise Karoline Krauss (1809–1866), with her he had three children.

job

Edmund Sigel studied Protestant theology in Tübingen from 1823 to 1826 . There he was a member of the Germania fraternity . Then he worked as a tutor. In 1828 he became a repetiteur at the Protestant theological seminar in Urach and in 1829 vicar in Reutlingen. From 1832 to 1836 he was vicar in Stuttgart and deacon in Cannstatt. There he was also the school conference director. In 1836 he became a garrison pastor in Stuttgart. In 1852 he succeeded Gottlob Eberhard von Hafner as prelate and general superintendent of Heilbronn .

politics

The general superintendents of the Evangelical Church were officially privileged members of the second chamber of the Württemberg state parliament . After his appointment in Heilbronn, Edmund von Sigel entered the state parliament in 1853. He held the office until his death.

Award

Sigel was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown in 1864 , which was associated with the personal title of nobility ( ennoblement ).
