Edouard Probst

Edouard Probst (born December 22, 1898 in Basel , † May 26, 1974 there ) was a Swiss automobile racing driver .

Career in motorsport

Little is known about Edouard Probst in connection with his motorsport activities. There are only a few appearances in international races in publications. One of these races is historically significant. In 1923 he took part as a driver in the first Le Mans 24-hour race in motorsport history. In addition to 60 French, three Belgians, a Canadian and a British who was the only and therefore the first Swiss to take part in this endurance race. With a Frenchman Elie Redon as a team partner, he achieved twentieth place in the overall standings on a Berliet VH 12HP.

In 1928 Probst won the Coppa di Messina in Italy in a Bugatti - T37A - Voiturette , beating Tazio Nuvolari among others .
