Eduard Echtler
Eduard Echtler (* around 1808 in Breslau ; † after 1861) was a German portrait painter and photographer .
Life
He married in Vienna in 1837 at the age of 29 . Before 1842 he was in Breslau , from 1842 to 1846 in Gdansk , went to Riga in 1847 and to Saint Petersburg in 1850 . In 1861 he returned to Riga, where he worked as a photographer and opened a studio.
Both portrait paintings and photos of the city of Riga are known by him.
His son was the painter Adolf Echtler (1843–1914), who received his first painting lessons from his father.
