Eduard Georgijewitsch Ivanov ( Russian Эдуард Георгиевич Иванов ; born April 25, 1938 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ; † January 15, 2012 ibid) was a Russian ice hockey player (defender).
Career
For the 1955/56 season, the defender began his career at Chimik Voskressensk . Two seasons later he moved to Krylya Sowetow Moscow and then in 1962 to the then elite club HK CSKA Moscow . He stayed here until 1967, when he moved to SKA MWO Kalinin for another three seasons . In total, he scored 40 goals in 300 games in the Soviet League and won in 1963, 1964, 1965 and 1966 with CSKA Moscow the Soviet championship . He was appointed to the Soviet national ice hockey team at an early age . On January 1, 1959, he was in a game against the USA for the first time for the Sbornaja on the ice. His international career was crowned with a gold medal at the 1964 Winter Olympics . For the national team, he scored 16 goals in 79 international matches. He was world champion four times with his team (1963, 1964, 1965 and 1967). In 1963 he was inducted into the " Russian Hockey Hall of Fame ". On March 29, 1967, he played his last international match.
