Eduard Kasparides
Eduard Kasparides (born March 18, 1858 in Krönau ( Moravia ), † July 19, 1926 in Bad Gleichenberg ( Styria )) was an Austrian painter.
Kasparides studied from 1876 to 1884 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna under Carl Wurzinger and Josef Mathias Trenkwald . During his studies around 1880, he restored the frescoes in the church of his home town. After graduating, he moved to Munich in 1885 . Kasparides went on study trips to Italy , Sweden , Russia and Germany .
Resident in Vienna since 1886, he became a member of the Austrian Society of Fine Artists in 1894 and was a member of the Hagenbund from 1900 to 1905 .
Kasparides created genre pictures as well as religious and historical pictures up to the turn of the 1900s, then turned to Impressionist landscape painting. After the First World War , Kasparides created figure paintings again.
Awards
His works brought him many awards, including a. the Prinz Coburg Prize 1884, Königswarter Prize 1899, small gold state medal 1900, silver medal St. Louis 1904, Karl Ludwig medal 1908, Drasche price 1911, large gold state medal 1912.
