Walther Buchowiecki

Walther Buchowiecki (born June 1, 1908 in Vienna ; † December 31, 1990 in Brixen ) was an Austrian art historian and librarian .

Buchowiecki studied art history at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1932 under Joseph Strzygowski with the thesis Die Gothic Hallenkirche in Austria . From 1936 to 1953 he worked as an employee of the collections of the City of Vienna. From 1955 to 1962 he worked as senior state librarian at the Austrian National Library , from 1962 to 1973 he was director of the library of the Ministry of Finance.
