Eduard Schnitzler

Eduard Schnitzler (born August 3, 1823 in Cologne ; † September 16, 1900 there ) was a merchant and banker in Cologne.

Life

After completing secondary school in Cologne, he spent a commercial training course in Amsterdam at Bunge & Co. and in London at Suse & Sibeth .

On November 14, 1850, he joined the JH Stein bank , in which his father Karl Eduard Schnitzler was involved. On January 1, 1851, he was granted power of attorney , then he became a partner. On December 31, 1875, he withdrew from direct business activity. On January 1, 1881, his eldest son, Richard Schnitzler , succeeded him as a personally liable partner in the JH Stein bank.

The son Julius Eduard Schnitzler, born in 1863, married to Margarethe Gillet, had worked as Vice Consul in Shanghai since 1898 and was raised to the Prussian nobility on September 20, 1913 together with his two brothers Richard and Paul Schnitzler . Julius Eduard von Schnitzler is the father of Karl-Eduard von Schnitzler , who was known as the presenter of the political-agitational television program "The Black Canal".

Eduard Schnitzler was married to Maria vom Rath (1831–91). The daughter Maria Helene Elisabeth, called Ella (1860–1916) married Willibald von Dirksen on August 12, 1880 .

Eduard Schnitzler was buried in the family grave at the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (HWG, between Lit. D + E).
