Eduard Selberg (born February 22, 1811 in Rinteln ; † October 11, 1878 ibid) was a German physician, writer and geographer .

Life

Eduard Selberg was a son of the merchant Ludwig Selberg, who was born in Rinteln around 1780. Eduard Selberg studied from Easter 1832 at the University of Marburg medicine and was in 1836 with his dissertation De Phantasia doctorate . He later worked as a doctor and district physician in Rinteln.

As a geographer and writer, Selberg is best known for his travelogues from Java , which appeared between 1840 and 1846 and which Willem Louis de Sturler (1802–1879) translated into Dutch.

A letter to Johann Gottfried Lüdde has survived from his correspondence .
