Eduard Twele

Johann Heinrich Wilhelm Eduard Twele (born March 7, 1806 in Markoldendorf ; † January 29, 1871 in Hanover ) was a German Lutheran theologian, general superintendent of the Diocese of Hildesheim and a member of the state consistory in Hanover.

Life

Eduard Twele was a son of the businessman Johann Christian Twele and on his mother's side a grandson of the superintendent Ebert in Markoldendorf. He attended high school in Holzminden and studied theology at the University of Göttingen from Michaelis 1823 . On May 7, 1827, he passed the first theological exam. At Easter 1829 he became tutor at Justice Commissioner Kirchhof in Weener, with Justice Councilor Achtermann in Holzminden. In December 1830 he passed the second theological exam. In 1832 he was admitted to the Loccum monastery hospice . In 1837 he became pastor in Eberholzen , 1842 conventual studies director in Loccum, 1845 pastor in Rehburg , 1850 superintendent in Alfeld (Leine) and in 1853 pastor and city superintendent at St. Andreas in Hildesheim. In this function he was also superintendent of the general diocese of Hildesheim and a member of the consistory in Hanover. In 1866 he was appointed senior consistory advisor and a full clerical member of the state consistory in Hanover.

family

Twele married Marie Sophie Tanner from Hamburg in 1848. The marriage resulted in two sons and a daughter. His son Eduard was Senate President at the Reich Military Court in Berlin, the second son Adrian was Undersecretary of State in the Reich Treasury.

Awards

The theological faculty of the University of Göttingen awarded Twele a doctorate in 1860.
