Eduard Wiesmann

Eduard Wiesmann (* 1932 ; † February 26, 2003 ) was a German local politician. From May 1984 to April 2002 he was mayor of Traunreut .

Career

Wiesmann was director of studies at the state college in Traunstein and taught German, history, social studies and ethics. In the local elections in the spring of 1984, he was elected as a candidate for the independent electorate for mayor of Traunreut. Wiesmann, together with the French mayor Edmond Desouches, campaigned for a town twinning between the French commune of Lucé in the Eure-et-Loir department and Traunreut, which was sealed on July 16, 1988. He was confirmed in office twice, in 1990 and 1996. During his tenure, the number of residents grew significantly. With the construction of the Traunpassage, the city began to transform itself from a purely industrial city to a shopping city . He did not run for the mayoral election in 2002. Wiesmann died on February 26, 2003 of emphysema .

Wiesmann was chairman of the parish council of St. Georgen from 1968 to 1982.
