Eduard d'Alton
Eduard Graf d'Alton (* 1737 in Grenanstown , † 24 May 1793 in Dunkirk ) was an Irish general in the imperial service.
Life
Eduard Graf d'Alton was born in Grenanstown, Ireland, in 1737, his brother was Richard d'Alton . First he worked as a cadet in the Wied Infantry Regiment (from 1769 No. 28). In the following year he became an officer and worked as a captain in the staff regiment from 1759 . In this position he appeared in 1760 in the battle of Torgau and on February 2, 1762 in Großpartha . In this battle he defeated the opposing battalion Labadie , whereupon he captured the commander with 98 other soldiers. In 1773 he was finally appointed Colonel of the Los Rios Regiment (from 1769 No. 9). He also became major general in 1783 and worked in the Russo-Austrian Turkish War as a commander of a brigade and as a field marshal lieutenant . Then he worked in the Netherlands, he and his troops belonged to the Duke of York . In a battle, however, d'Alton fell on May 24, 1793 in Dunkirk.
