Eduarda Schnitzer
Eduarda Benedikta Maria Schnitzer OSB (born June 22, 1815 in Waal , Allgäu , † January 9, 1902 in Eichstätt ) was a German Benedictine and copyist .
In 1849 Schnitzer became prioress of the St. Walburg monastery . In 1852, at the request of the Metten monk Bonifaz Wimmer , she sent her first sisters to America. The first Benedictine convent in North America was then founded in Pennsylvania . On September 14, 1898, Schnitzer was given her successor Karolin Kroiß as an assistant.
Her biological sister Aloisia (born September 17, 1816 in Waal / Allgäu; † March 17, 1861 in Eichstätt) was a teacher in the St. Walburg monastery.
