Eduardo De la Peña , full name Eduardo Maria De la Peña , (born June 7, 1955 in Minas , Uruguay ) is a former Uruguayan football player .
Career
society
Midfielder De la Peña played from 1976 to 1982 for Nacional Montevideo in the Primera División . In the 1977 , 1980 and 1983 seasons, his club won the Uruguayan Championship. In 1980 they also won the Copa Libertadores . De la Peña played in both finals against SC Internacional from the start. With a 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest on February 11, 1981 , in which he did not play, he won the 1980 World Cup with his club . He also came to the train in the playoff for the Copa Interamericana 1981 . However, Nacional lost to the Mexican club UNAM Pumas . After his time at Nacional, a career station in Mexico at UAG Tecos followed in the 1982/83 season . There he came to 30 league appearances and scored one goal. This was followed by an engagement in Colombia at Deportivo Cali in 1983 . In 1984 he was under contract with Club Atlético Huracán in Argentina , completed 15 league encounters and scored one goal.
National team
De la Peña was a member of the senior national team of Uruguay , for which he completed 19 international matches between July 11, 1979 and September 6, 1981, in which he scored one goal. With the Celeste he took part in the Copa America in 1979 and won the Mundialito , which was held at the turn of the year 1980/81 . He was also used in 1979 at the Copa Juan Pinto Durán . He also got a chance to qualify for the 1982 World Cup .
