Edward G. Biester

Edward George Biester Jr. (born January 5, 1931 in Trevose , Bucks County , Pennsylvania ) is a former American politician . Between 1967 and 1977 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Edward Biester attended the public schools in Doylestown and then until 1948 the George School in Newtown . This was followed by a study at Wesleyan University until 1952 . After a subsequent law degree at Temple University and his 1956 admission to the bar, he began to work as a lawyer. Between 1958 and 1964, he was the assistant district attorney in Bucks County. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party .

In the 1966 congressional elections , Biester was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the eighth constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Willard S. Curtin on January 3, 1967 . After four re-elections, he was able to complete five legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1977 . During this time, among other things, the end of the Vietnam War and the Watergate affair fell . In 1976 he renounced another candidacy.

Edward Biester was Attorney General of Pennsylvania in 1979 and 1980 . Between 1980 and 2006 he served as an appellate judge in the seventh judicial district of his state. He was also a member of the United States Court of Military Commission Review .
