Edward Ludwig Glaeser (* 1. May 1967 in New York City ) is a US -American economist . He is Professor of Economics at Harvard University .

Life

Edward Glaeser attended the Collegiate School in New York City from 1978 to 1984. He then studied economics at Princeton University ( Bachelor 1988). At the University of Chicago , he received his Ph.D. PhD . He has been a professor at Harvard since 1992. In 1997 he received a scholarship from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation ( Sloan Research Fellow ). In 2010 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .

Glaeser's research focus is urban economics . He has published work on urban growth, segregation , crime, and housing and real estate markets . He is particularly interested in the role of geographic proximity in innovation .

Glaeser is co-editor of the prestigious Journal of Urban Economics .
