Edward S. Aarons
Edward Sidney Aarons , pseudonyms Paul Ayres and Edward Ronns (born 1916 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † June 16, 1975 in New Milford , Connecticut ) was an American writer.
Life
Aarons studied literature and history at Columbia University . Subsequently, he tried his hand at various professions, including as a journalist. In 1933 one of his stories received an award.
After the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, Aarons joined the army and was a member of the United States Coast Guard until the end of the war . In the summer of 1945 he quit his service with the rank of Chief Petty Officer .
In addition to his own name, Aarons also used the pseudonyms Paul Ayres and Edward Ronns . He became known for his spy novel series ("Assignemt") with the protagonist Sam Durrell .
