Efraín Velarde (born April 18, 1986 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican football player on the position of defender .

Life

Since the beginning of his professional career in the 2003/04 season, Velarde has been under contract with his hometown club Club Universidad Nacional . Velarde has been a regular player since the 2006/07 season and twice actively won the Mexican championship with the Pumas ( Clausura 2009 and Clausura 2011 ), after having already been a reservist in both 2004 championship squads ( Clausura 2004 and Apertura 2004 ).

Velarde made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on September 4, 2011 in a 1-0 win over Chile.
