Egerländer Biographical Lexicon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Egerländer Biographical Lexicon (EBL) is a three-volume biographical reference work "with selected people from the former administrative district of Eger ".

The encyclopedia was edited and published by local researcher Josef Weinmann (born July 28, 1926 in Karlsbad ), a Swiss dentist with a doctorate and a member of the Egerländer Gmoi e. V., who had previously written genealogical, local history and biographical articles for various local newspapers. As a permanent employee of the Egerländer Kulturschaffender (AEK) working group, he founded a working group within the association to create the reference work. In Männedorf , Canton Zurich , the first volume with biographical articles with the initials A – M was published in 1985 with a total of 375 pages and in 1987 the second part with the letters N – Z with 366 pages. The entire production of both volumes was carried out by Druckhaus Bayreuth Verlagsgesellschaft mbH, Bayreuth , which also owns the majority of the North Bavarian Courier . In 2005 the supplementary volume A – Z with 231 pages was published there. The standard work summarizes over 4,000 CVs, short biographies with works and other literature references.
