history

A village in the area has been archaeologically proven as early as the early 9th century. The village later became part of the municipality of Thesdorf and was incorporated into Pinneberg in 1927.

In 1939 the Eggerstedt barracks opened in Eggerstedt after a construction period of 2 years. From 1945 onwards it served as a reception center for so-called displaced persons , i.e. people who ended up in Germany during the turmoil of World War II . The Baltic University was also located here from 1946 to 1949 . The buildings were later also used to house refugees. In 1959 the barracks were handed over to the Bundeswehr again and served as barracks until 2003.
