Together with Thesdorf , the place was incorporated into Pinneberg in 1927. Waldenau is in close proximity to the Klövensteen forest .

location

history

The earliest traces of archaeological settlement date from the 6th century BC. BC ( Jastorf B ). The find consists of shards of a black, undecorated scoop, which were found during excavations in the summer of 1954 (Schünenkamp) at the bottom of an old ring well. The well shaft was made from a hollowed-out oak trunk and had a diameter of 90 cm and a height of 60 cm. It probably belonged to a Svebi village or a solitary farm on the western slope of the Düpenau valley .

Until the demolition in 1962/1963, the so-called "Waldenauer Torhaus" stood at the transition from Behrensallee to the market square. The earliest mention can be found in a lithograph from 1852.

culture and education

The local sports club is SuS Waldenau, founded in 1947. The Waldenau-Datum von 1934 eV association organizes the harvest festival, the Easter bonfire and several other events every year. In 2008 the traditional Thanksgiving Parade took place through the community for the 60th time , attracting thousands of visitors every year. In addition to the Protestant Kreuzkirche Waldenau there is a crèche in the village and an Protestant kindergarten and elementary school in Nieland; The school is located on the market square (classes 1–10).
