history

The school was founded in 1983 by a parent-teacher initiative under the name "Schenefeld School School" as an integrative school for children with and without disabilities. In 1985 it was officially recognized as a substitute school . After the abandonment of the Schenefeld location and the acquisition, renovation and expansion of a historic building, the former Waldenau manor, all classes have been taught there under one roof since 2006.

Pedagogical features

The educational guiding principle of the school concept is a holistic approach that - within the framework of the curriculum and organizational form possible - open form of teaching , performance promotion and inclusion . A common inclusive school life for people with and without disabilities, with different learning speeds and the most varied of talents is an integral part of the school concept. The school enables the first general education qualification ESA , the intermediate school qualification MSA and the special school qualification and qualifies students as a state-recognized substitute school for the transition to secondary schools ( commercial school , technical school , community school or high school ) or into professional life. In individual support, children and young people of all skill levels, including those with increased needs, are taught together in a differentiated manner up to the end of the 10th grade .

Particular emphasis is placed on expanding the students' social skills . The establishment of multi-year learning groups promotes social interaction.

The lessons, the content of which is regulated by the curriculum of the State of Schleswig-Holstein , take place in classes with a maximum of 23 students. There is one class per year. The student school is an open all-day school with voluntary afternoon offers.

Another special feature of this alternative school is that grades (in the form of the grading system from 1 to 6) are only awarded from the ninth grade. Differentiated forms of performance feedback such as personal address in report certificates and appraisal interviews describe the individual competencies and development opportunities of the students in grades 1 - 8. It can also be used to provide information on how something can be improved.

A parents' association runs the school. Pupils, teachers and parents participate in the self-administration of the school. School life is characterized by the networking of students, teachers and parents.
