Egid Filek von Wittinghausen
Egid Filek von Wittinghausen (also Egid Filek or E. Witting ; born January 18, 1874 in Vienna ; † April 20, 1949 there ) was an Austrian writer .
Life
Egid Filek studied Jus and philosophy; he graduated with the Dr. phil. from. By profession he was a high school teacher, first in Iglau , 1900 in Brno and from 1904 in Vienna. In 1922 he retired. He was married to Boda Maria Kreutzer. Since the beginning of the 20th century, Filek was also active as a writer. 1898–1908 he headed the youth magazine Gaudeamus , in 1917 the boy scout magazine Jung-Österreich . After his death, Filek was buried in the Vienna Central Cemetery.

As a writer, Egid Filek wrote short stories and novels which, in addition to issues of the time, deal primarily with historical topics in Vienna and Austria. In addition, he wrote a number of homeland and landscape books, which enjoyed wide distribution and great popularity.
