Egil Abrahamsen

Egil Abrahamsen (born February 7, 1923 in Hvaler ) is a Norwegian marine engineer and businessman.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1943, he studied shipbuilding at the Norwegian Technical University , which he graduated in 1949. In-depth studies led to Durham University and the University of California, Berkeley .

In 1952 he joined the Det Norske Veritas classification society , where he was managing director and chairman of the board from 1967 to 1985. In 1977 he received his doctorate from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm Dr. techn.

Abrahamsen has held numerous supervisory board mandates and served on numerous boards and committees. He was chairman of Norsk Hydro from 1985 to 1991 and chairman of Televerket and Telenor from 1980 to 1995 .
