Egon Count of Beroldingen

Egon Julius Reichsgraf von Beroldingen (born September 24, 1885 , † October 25, 1933 in Munich ) was a German fighter pilot and airport manager. As chairman of VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt , he also worked as a sports official.

Life

Von Beroldingen served in the Wuerttemberg Uhlan Regiment No. 20 , at the beginning of the First World War he switched to the air force. From 1916 he led various departments, and at the end of 1917 he became the commander of Flieger-Ersatz -teilung 10 in Böblingen . In this role he experienced the end of the war and the demobilization of the air forces - not least as a result of the Versailles Peace Treaty . In 1923 he took over the management of Frankfurt Airport .

In 1919 von Beroldingen inherited Gustav Schumm as chairman of VfB Stuttgart . Under his leadership, youth work was expanded - he saw sport as a way of exercising German youth - and the club moved into a new sports field with the space near the three poplars on the Cannstatter Wasen . After moving to Frankfurt in 1923, he handed over the presidency to Karl-Adolf Deubler , and the association made him honorary president. In Frankfurt he took over the chairmanship of Eintracht Frankfurt , which he held until his death.

In 1919 von Beroldingen married Nora Kapp von giltstein, who was four years his junior . The marriage had son Alexander, who stayed with his mother after the divorce in 1922. Von Beroldingen died as a result of an operation and was buried in the Prague cemetery in Stuttgart . In May 1934, VfB Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt met in a Graf Beroldingen Cup game , the Hessians won with a 5-2 victory.
