description

The former rectory of the Martin Luther Church is a three-story building with a half-hip roof . Three sides of the house are made of brickwork . The east side of the building has a half-timbered facade . The building has been a listed building since 1988 .

To the history of the building

The building, erected in 1683, served as a meeting and worship room for the Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Reusrath until the church was built in 1794 . A room with 162 seats, an altar and an organ was set up on the upper floor for this purpose. After four years, a small bell tower was added to the house, which was removed after the church was built. The ground floor served as a parish apartment until 1959. During the renovation from 1986 to 1988, an inscription on the first three pastors (from 1683 to 1726) of the parish was uncovered along with the mighty beams of the church hall . A Hermanus Bronsell from Düsseldorf was named as the first, a Peter Caspar Rövestrünck from Lennep as the second and a Joh. Arn. Beurhusius from Dortmund as the third clergyman in the community. Today there is a diakonia station on the ground floor and a sexton apartment on the upper and top floors .
