The memorial at the Holtenser Church

In the community of Wennigsen there are six memorials for soldiers who died in the two world wars. The war memorials are registered architectural monuments. The monuments are mostly located in the localities that were independent municipalities until the establishment of the Wennigsen municipality in 1970. In addition to the memorials, there are memorial plaques in the community to warn against war and displacement, or time capsules warn against it.

Edification

The memorial in Bredenbeck is on Deisterstraße on Lindenplatz. In the square originally designed by the Hanoverian court architect Laves, it was erected in memory of the fallen Bredenbeck soldiers in 1921. The memorial was renovated in 1952 and the fallen soldiers of World War II were added. In the south-eastern line of sight, the east cross was erected to commemorate the escape after the World War. The monument was renovated in 2009 as part of the Hannover Garden Region campaign with public funds and donations.

Time capsules

Time capsule monument renovation 2009

During the renovation work, a time capsule with historical documents was found. These were original documents from 1921 and 1952. The history of the fire brigade , the women's, the warrior, the cycling club and other local institutions can be found in 42 handwritten documents from 1921. After the Second World War, the then Bredenbeck municipal director Dörries added and Mayor Klaare added a warning letter. Excerpts: After the collapse of the so-called 1000 year empire, which turned our fatherland into ruins, everything had to be rebuilt after 1945. Around 9 million people were displaced from the East and had to be housed in West Germany. As a result, Bredenbeck was assigned 1,000 refugees and the housing shortage took on unnatural forms. The settlement was started with the establishment of the district settlement company and over time approx. 100 houses with 200 apartments are to be built. Furthermore, today, August 12th, 1952, the construction of the water pipeline began, which is supposed to remedy the water calamity on the Ostdeister. May peace be preserved so that we can live and work in happiness and contentment for many years to come. In 2009 a new time capsule was installed. The Heimatbund has described the current situation of the place, the mayor of Back and the mayor of Meineke enclosed a letter. In addition to a description of the work on the monument and an explanation of the garden region project, it expresses the wish that the citizens of Bredenbeck can continue to live in peace and freedom.
