Argestorf is a village in the municipality of Wennigsen (Deister) in the Hanover region .

history

Argestorf was first mentioned in a document in 1252, when Wedekind vom Berge, nobleman of the Minden monastery , transferred the tithe to “Herkestorpe” (“Village of Herco”) to the Minden Bishop Johann.

The place name was subject to constant change in later history. In 1254, in a request written by Count Moritz von Spiegelberg from Wennigsen Abbey to the Abbot of Corvey for a donation of eight Hufen land, the place was called "Erchestorpe", and in another land transfer in 1257 it was called "Erkestorp".

Around 1270, the Wennigsen monastery became the sole landlord in Argestorf through another exchange of goods. In the Calenberg house book from 1592, the village is called "Arxtorpe".

The largest population reached Argestorf in the 1950s, at that time about 570 people lived in the village.

As part of the regional reform, Argestorf became part of the municipality of Wennigsen (Deister) on January 1, 1970.

coat of arms

Coat of arms of Argestorf
Blazon : "In silver over a raised, rounded, green shield base - inside asilver key with the beard turned to the left - a jumping, red deer ."
Reasons for the coat of arms: A coat of arms was created in Argestorf, which reproduces the old count coat of arms of the noble family von Spiegelberg , the red stag in the silver field, with the honorable intention of preserving this family, which is interwoven with the national and local history, in the consciousness of the inhabitants. The green key, which emphasizes the rural character of the village, is intended to indicate the centuries of sovereignty of the church, which was tithe.
