Degersen is a village in the municipality of Wennigsen (Deister) in the Hanover region .

geography

Degersen is located on a hill between the Gehrdener Berg and the Deister . It borders directly to the northeast on the Wennigsen district.

The state road L 390 crosses the old town center and meets the L 391 on the southern edge of the town , whose busy continuation to the east is currently classified as a district road.

The Deisterbahn from Hanover to Haste , served by the S-Bahn lines S 1 and S 2 , cuts through the municipal area . The nearest stop is Wennigsen.

history

Degersen emerged from two settlements: Degersen and Bönnigsen.

Degersen

Degersen was founded around the 7th century. Degersen was first mentioned in a document in 1216 in a bull of Pope Innocent under the name "Danquardessen", presumably after a founder "Danquard". In documents of the Wennigsen monastery from the years 1235 and 1360 the place is called "Deghersehen".

Bönnigsen

Bönnigsen is a district of Degersen in the east. Bönnigsen was first mentioned in a document in 1238 under the name "Boningissen" or "Bonincgesen", presumably after a local founder named Bono or Buno. In the Middle Ages, Bönnigsen was the seat of a governor's court , from the 15th century it was a bailiwick to which, in addition to Bönnigsen, the villages of Wennigsen, Degersen, Weetzen , Egestorf , Kirchdorf , Lemmie , Redderse and Sorsum were subordinate. As a school community, both districts have been one unit since 1643. In 1817 the bailiwick became part of the Wennigsen office .

In 1928 Bönnigsen was incorporated into Degersen. It was not until the 1950s and 60s that the villages gradually grew together, due to the influx of many expellees and new buildings between Degersen and Bönnigsen.

As part of the regional reform , Degersen became part of the Wennigsen (Deister) community in 1970 .

Since then, the number of residents has roughly doubled again through several building areas.

politics

Walter Rasch, born in 1957, has been the local mayor since 2011. The non-party candidate was on the list of the SPD, which with him was able to claim a share of around 80% of the vote.

Culture and sights

An initiative in the late 1980s to build an ecumenical chapel has so far led to the acquisition of a piece of land, the so-called chapel garden.

Degersen had its own elementary school since 1643 . School operations stopped in 1971.

The facilities of the public infrastructure include a regular kindergarten and a special educational kindergarten, which is housed in the old elementary school.

The Rehrenborn with its natural monument , an approximately 250-year-old oak and the chapel garden are attractions for local recreation . Both are looked after by the local Heimatbund .
