Ehsan Jami

Ehsan Jami (born April 20, 1985 in Mashhad ) is a Dutch politician of Iranian origin.

Life

Ehsan Jami had to leave Iran with his parents and sister in 1996 for political reasons. He has lived in the Netherlands since then and is now a citizen of that country .

He was a member of the social democratic Partij van de Arbeid (PvdA) and for this member of the city council of Leidschendam-Voorburg near The Hague .

With the founding of the Centraal Comité voor Ex-Muslims based on the German Central Council of Ex-Muslims in June 2007, whose declared aim is to support ex-Muslims , Ehsan Jami made a name for himself beyond the Netherlands. As a result, he was repeatedly the victim of violent Muslims. On August 4th, 2007, he and his companion were beaten by three men in the street. Since then he has had to go into hiding and be placed under special state protection. From hiding, he criticizes that even in a democracy like the Netherlands it is apparently no longer possible to express one's opinion because criticism of Islam is answered by Muslims with violence.

Ehsam Jami is supported in his endeavors critical of Islam by Afshin Ellian .

The event will take place in the Netherlands much attention and is reminiscent of the persecution of Islam critic Ayaan Hirsi Ali and the murder of filmmaker Theo van Gogh in 2004. On 8 August 2007, the politicians took Geert Wilders in the event as an opportunity to ban the Koran to demand. In 2007 Geert Wilders and Ehsan Jami wrote an article together in which they compared the Prophet Mohammed with Hitler. Because of this article, Jami was expelled from the social democratic party van de Arbeid.

After the anti-Islamic Wilders film Fitna was published on the Internet on March 27, 2008, Jami announced that he would also be releasing a film that was critical of Islam and that he wanted to outdo Wilders in its criticism. A little later he withdrew his announcement under pressure from the Dutch Minister of Justice and after Iranian threats. On December 9th, his film An Interview with Muhammed was finally released on the Internet.

In October 2009 it became known that Jami would be politically involved in the right-wing populist Partij voor de Vrijheid (PVV) Geert Wilders. In August 2011, however, he left the party again and announced that he would withdraw from politics and concentrate on his studies. He has been a member of Hero Brinkman's Onafhankelijke Burger Partij since the beginning of 2012 .
