history

In 1875, with the opening of the Chemnitz-Adorf railway line of the Chemnitz-Aue-Adorfer Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft (CAAE) , Eibenstock received its first railway connection. However, the train station was 3.5 km away and about 130 m lower in the Mulde valley , so that the traffic conditions did not improve significantly. After the construction of the section of Schönheide - Wilzschhaus the narrow-gauge railway Wilkau-Haßlau-Carl field , which went into operation in 1893, was an extension of Carlsfeld discussed. The city of Eibenstock turned to the Saxon state parliament with a petition with the aim of building a narrow-gauge railway from Eibenstock to Schönheide and Schönheiderhammer with a connection to the Wilzschhaus-Saupersdorf narrow-gauge railway . The state parliament rejected this petition in its session on March 13, 1894. It was only with the opening of the steep Eibenstock section on May 2, 1905 that Eibenstock received better transport links. The previous Eibenstock station was given the new name Eibenstock unt Bf , as another station was built at the upper end of the steep section with the upper station. With the opening of the line, the track systems also had to be expanded, at the same time the water station was demolished as it stood in the way of expansion.

When a small locomotive was stationed in 1934, a suitable shed was built for it. During the Second World War, there was also a connection to a newly built armaments site at the station. After the end of the Second World War, the connection was removed and the plant blown up. In 1950 the small locomotive was withdrawn. In the late 1960s, the goods shed and the side loading ramp were demolished.

In the course of the construction of the Eibenstock dam , passenger traffic was ended on September 27, 1975 and goods traffic in October of the same year. Afterwards, the construction trailers for the workers who dismantled the line to the upper station were stationed in the lower station. The tracks of the station itself were removed at the end of October 1975, and all of the existing high-rise buildings were demolished without exception. The area of the train station is now under the water surface of the reservoir.
