The Eichberg (also Aichberg ) is a 1436  m above sea level. A. high summit of the Murberge in the Upper Mur Valley , Styria .

Location and landscape

The Eichberg lies between Katschtal near Althofen and Wölzertal near Oberwölz and Winklern , two northern side valleys of the upper Mur. It is a north-westerly branch of the Pleschaitz  ( 1797  m above sea level ), which rises directly on the Mur. The Eichberg is separated from it by the Hinterburger Tal , which leads from Katsch-Oberdorf to Mainhardsdorf . To the northwest, the Mühltratte saddle  ( 1080  m above sea level ) via Peterdorf , the low Kammersberg  ( 1114  m above sea level ), which already belongs to the Murparalleltal .

The villages of Eichberg and Gallberg are on the south-west flank , while the farms on the north-east flank belong to Hinterburg .

geology

The mountain consists of black mica slate (carbon mica slate ), which is part of the Lower Tauern main mass. This forms the base of the basin of the Murau Paleozoic Era , which does not belong to the Middle East of the Tauern, but to the Upper East Alpine , and forms the main mass of the Murau Mountains ( Gurktaler Nappe ). The top of the Eichberg is a paleozoic limestone, which is counted as part of the upper eastern Alpine group of the Murau limestone of this ceiling, and which pulls down into the rear castle as limestone rubble. The southern roofing is also Upper Eastern Alpine Pleschaitz limestone . The northern base of the valley consists of Wölzer conglomerate , which belongs to the Tertiary and represents a pre-glacial river valley.
