The Eichelberg is a 271.3  m above sea level. NHN high elevation and marks the field boundary between Berka / Werra and Hausbreitenbach in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

In terms of nature, the mountain is part of the Horschlitter Mulde, a peripheral area of the Berka basin . The Eichelberg was settled early on. Archaeological finds are in the collection of the Gerstungen Werratal Museum . The relatively flat hill was apparently unsuitable for building a castle, so the medieval administrative seat of Breitenbach was built as a moated castle in the valley to the east . The Berka execution site was on the northern slope on the Herda border.

Today's use with fields and pastures is carried out by the Horschlitter Mulde agricultural cooperative. The summit area of the mountain, which consists of red sandstone, is covered by a layer of rubble deposited in the Quaternary , which is mined as a building material with sand and clay deposits.

After 1995, a small industrial park with businesses in the trade and logistics sector was built on the northeast slope.
