Eike Emrich (* 1957 in Odenbach ) is a German sports sociologist and sports economist .

Life

After graduating from the Paul-Schneider-Gymnasium in Meisenheim , he studied sports science , sociology and economics at the Saarland University from 1977/78 to 1984 , graduating in 1981 and 1984. From 1984 to 1987 he was a scientist. Assistant to the legal sociologist Christian Helfer , doctorate in sociology at the University of Saarland in 1988. In the same year he was appointed head of the Saarland Olympic Training Center (from 1992 Rhineland-Palatinate / Saarland Olympic Training Center), and from 1993 he was also general manager of the State Sports Association for Saarland , the sponsor of the OSP. During the whole time he took on various teaching assignments, published numerous research papers and completed his habilitation at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz in 1994/95 with a thesis on the effectiveness of sports promotion. In 2000 he was appointed to the chair for sports development at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main , in 2005 he accepted the Saarland University among several offers and took over the chair for sports economics and sports sociology .

In his empirical analyzes he examines a wide range of sociological and economic questions in the field of sport as a whole as well as in the field of economic and sociological educational research.

He is also on the board of directors of the European Institute for Socioeconomics. V., which deals with a wide range of economic and sociological issues, primarily in the area of ​​nonprofit organizations.
