Career

Mähler made his international debut at the Four Hills Tournament in 1967/68 , where he only competed in the jumping in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . After only finishing 56th on the Great Olympic Hill, he finished the tour in 91st place overall.

After he did not start in the Four Hills Tournament in 1968/69 , he competed in all four competitions for the first time in the Four Hills Tournament in 1969/70 . However, he did not succeed in any of the jumping competitions. He finished the tour as 64th overall. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1970 in Štrbské Pleso , Mähler finished 23rd on the normal hill and 45th on the large hill.

With the Four Hills Tournament 1970/71 Mähler should finally deny his most successful tour. Already in Oberstdorf he surprised with 20th place on the Schattenbergschanze . At the New Year's event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen he achieved his best individual tour result in his career with 13th place. After finishing 26th in Innsbruck and 35th on the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze in Bischofshofen , he finished the tour with 823.6 points in 20th place overall.

At the Four Hills Tournament 1971/72 and the Four Hills Tournament 1972/73 he could no longer build on this success and ended his active ski jumping career in 1973.
