The one-man orchestra is a collection of several musical instruments that is played simultaneously by a single musician .

The musician takes on different functions: he is melody player and rhythm generator at the same time. This requires a lot of physical effort; Hands, arms, feet, legs, head and mouth are in action at the same time. The instruments are often connected via special constructions so that several instruments can be played at the same time with one movement.

The term one-man band is also used very often here . These are mostly musicians who carry a bass drum on their back and at the same time play a stringed instrument , harmonica and other instruments. This requires a high level of concentration and muscle strength .

The one-man band is the popular music attributed. You can find it occasionally with street musicians , but also as a stage attraction.

A further development of the one-man orchestra has found its way into the modern music theater ( musical ) of the 21st century.

Due to the development of digital technology , sampled natural instruments can be played back with a keyboard , which simulates the sound of an orchestra . Drums , string instruments , wood and brass instruments can be accessed by one person on the keyboard.
