Einat Kalisch-Rotem ( Hebrew עינת קליש-רותם, Born September 3, 1970 in Haifa ) is an Israeli architect and politician from the Avoda . She has been the mayor of Haifa since November 20, 2018, replacing party member Jona Jahaw . This makes her the first female mayor of a major Israeli city.

Life

Kalisch-Rotem served in the Israeli Air Force and studied architecture and urban planning at the Technion and urban planning at the ETH Zurich .

She runs an architecture office, where she deals with urban and regional planning. She also lectures at the Technion and at Tel Aviv University . She has received several awards for her work.

Einat Kalisch-Rotem is married and has two children. It has a black karate belt .
