history
The Einsiedler Brauhaus was founded on August 29, 1885 by the machine manufacturer Emil Schwalbe as a private brewery in Chemnitz-Einsiedel. In 1903 it was converted into a stock corporation. In 1920 there was a forced takeover by the Deutsche Brau- & Aktiengesellschaft Berlin and it was renamed Einsiedler Brauhaus AG . From 1925 the brewery was a branch of the Radeberger export beer brewery . In 1937 the brewery was re-privatized by the Winterling family. After the Second World War there was a forced administration, until 1961 semi-public, and in 1972 it was expropriated. From then on, the brewery functioned as part of the VEB United Breweries Karl-Marx-Stadt (later VEB Braustolz ). The Einsiedler Brauhaus has been a GmbH since 1990 .
