The Bremen-Burg railway bridge is a double - track truss bridge over the Lesum River in the Burglesum district of Bremen .
The bridge, whose year of construction is not specified by Deutsche Bahn , was damaged in World War II and put back into operation in 1950. The Bremen – Bremerhaven railway runs across the bridge .
In addition to regional rail traffic , the railway bridge over the Lesum is particularly important for freight trains to and from the ports in Bremerhaven . It was passed by around 80 freight and around 50 passenger trains every day in 2013.
Since 2015 at the latest, doubts have been raised as to whether the bridge can meet future requirements in the long term. A replacement or new building is not in sight.
