Juhana Heikki Erkko ( JH Erkko ; Johan Henrik Erkko ; born January 16, 1849 in Orimattila , † November 16, 1906 in Helsinki ) was a Finnish poet and playwright.

The brother of the politician and journalist Eero Erkko and the writer Elias (Ruuto) Erkko was a Finnish poet and playwright attended the seminary in Jyväskylä from 1867 to 1872 , where Erik August Hagfors was teaching at the time . He self-published his first poems in 1870 and his first drama appeared in 1872.

Erkko worked as a teacher from 1872 to 1892. During this time he made trips to Denmark, Germany, Austria, Italy, France and England. In 1897 he was one of the founding members of the Finnish Writers' Union, of which he was chairman from 1902–03. Further trips took him to Switzerland, Monaco, Egypt and Palestine. In addition to several collections of poetry and dramas, Erkko also wrote two novels. His funeral became a national mourning ceremony. His coffin was carried by his brother Eero Erkko, Pekka Halonen , Eino Leino , Oskari Merikanto , Eemil Nestor Setälä , Kaarlo Alarik Castrén and Juho Lallukka .
