Elias Erkko
Juho Elias Rudolf (Ruuto) Erkko (born April 12, 1863 in Orimattila , † November 21, 1888 in Meran ) was a Finnish writer, literary critic and translator.
Ruuto Erkko was the youngest brother of the writer Juhana Heikki Erkko and the politician and journalist Eero Erkko . After graduating from the Lyceum, he studied at the University of Helsinki . He worked as a tutor, literary critic, translator and writer. Erkko was one of Minna Canth's circle of friends of young writers . Through her he met the actress Hilda Asp , to whom he became engaged. The extensive correspondence between the two was published in 1983 under the title "Hilda & Elias. Hilda Aspin ja Elias Erkon kirjeenvaihtoa vuosilta 1884-88 . During Erkko's lifetime the report Pyrstötähti (1883) and the drama Elinan surma (1885) appeared. Because of his poor health Erkko traveled to Tyrol in 1888, where he died at the age of only 25.
