Helene Nissen (* 1996 in Schleswig ) is a German singer-songwriter from the fields of Soul - Blues - and pop music .

Life

Helene Nissen grew up in Hollingstedt near Schleswig . After primary school she attended AP Møller-Skolen for six years . Then she switched to the BBZ Schleswig with the aim of doing the Abitur.

Career

She learned to play the guitar as a child and began writing her own songs at an early age. She mentions musicians like Johnny Cash and the British singer-songwriter Gabrielle Aplin as inspiration . When she was 14 years old, her parents enrolled her to take singing lessons. In adolescence she founded her first band. Nissen is also active on YouTube, where she uploads cover songs and her own compositions.

She was named “Musical Talent 2012” by Internet radio KeyFM. In 2013 she took third place in the national competition Jugend musiziert in Nuremberg and was first in the regional competition Das Musiktalent . In 2013 she performed at the RSH Children's Day with guitar, where she sang the song Born This Way by Lady Gaga . In May 2015, the self-titled album Helene Nissen & Band was released on the Berlin indie label Phonector . At their side were Hauke ​​Schulz, guitarist, Andy Franke, bass, Mathias Schwarz, drums, and Michael Sörensen, "Musikschmiede-Selk", as musicians and producers. On June 13, 2016, she recorded the single Die Liebe for their album Großer Mann with the band Diebesgut from Kiel . Also in 2016 she applied for the selection process for Our Song 2017 ; this preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest took place on February 9, 2017, in which it competed against four other candidates. She performed a cover version of the song Folsom Prison Blues by Johnny Cash as well as her version of the song Wildfire composed for the Eurovision Song Contest and took 3rd place. On the same day, the accompanying EP with the songs Wildfire and Perfect Life was released via Sony Music . In 2018 Nissen is on a Schlager tour through Germany and Austria with Klubbb3 and others .
