Gabrielle Ann Aplin (born October 10, 1992 in Bath ) is a British singer-songwriter .
Career
Aplin began her musical career on the video platform YouTube . A cover version of the song My Heart by the band Paramore , published in 2008, was clicked by almost 200,000 visitors, a version of the song The Liar and the Lighter - originally by You Me at Six - had more than 630,000 clicks by November 2012. She recorded the song for her first EP, which was released in September 2010 under the title Acoustic . Further EPs were released in May 2011 and January 2012.
At the end of February 2012, she announced on her Facebook page that she had signed a record deal with Parlophone Records . In March 2012 she started work on her debut album English Rain , which was released in May 2013.
She recorded a cover version of Frankie Goes to Hollywood's The Power of Love for the John Lewis Christmas commercial . It appeared in November and stayed in the top 10 for three weeks before climbing to number 1 in the first week of Advent .
