Fatehpur railway accident

In the Fatehpur railway accident on July 10, 2011, the Howrah Kalka Express derailed near Fatehpur , Uttar Pradesh , India . 70 dead and more than 300 injured were the result.

The Howrah-Kalka Express of Indian Railways was from Howrah to Delhi go. It was occupied with about 1000 passengers .

Near Fatehpur the derailed train at about 12 o'clock for 20 hours at a speed of 108 km /. 15 wagons of the train derailed. First it was reported that an emergency braking had been triggered. Later, however, it was announced by the head of security in rail traffic of Indian Railways that a "fault in the superstructure " should have been the cause of the derailment, perhaps a broken rail .

consequences

Two rescue trains from Kanpur and Allahabad were used . In addition, more than 200 police officers and 100 soldiers were involved in the rescue operation. Some of the wagons involved in the accident had to be opened with cutting torches in order to free trapped passengers.
