The ferrous Hasenclever and Sohn GmbH is a German foundry for cast steel (heat-resistant cast steel and special steel casting alloys) and cast iron (gray cast iron and alloyed and unalloyed nodular cast iron) in Hesse Battenberg .

It is a supplier to manufacturers and system suppliers in the automotive industry. The company has specialized in the series production of exhaust components for gasoline, diesel and hybrid engines for the automotive industry. Together with Eisenwerk Brühl, the company belongs to the ERW Group.

Products

  • Turbine housing for turbochargers for use in turbo engines
  • Bearing housing as an exhaust gas turbocharger component
  • Exhaust modules such as exhaust manifolds and exhaust manifolds
  • Integrated modules (integral modules / exhaust manifold modules)
  • Bearing caps for crankshafts

In addition, cylinder heads for commercial vehicles, assemblies and marine engines as well as cast parts for mechanical engineering are manufactured.

production method

The products are manufactured in small and large series using different manufacturing processes. As a result, piece weights in different alloys from a few hundred grams up to 500 kg can be realized in the foundry. The steel casting takes place, depending on the size of the cast steel parts to be produced, on the mask system or on the core block system .

In 2011, the company set up a large-scale production of cast steel turbocharger housings on a clocked bucket system using two different sand systems for the outer and inner contours. These so-called twin-scroll turbochargers of the latest generation have two impellers that are only separated by a partition. The casting of such a partition wall has not yet been mass-produced anywhere in the world, but it is of crucial importance for the function of these turbochargers. The company has its own landfill for unpolluted foundry residues.

history

In 1773 a hammer mill called "Auhammer" was founded on the banks of the Eder in Battenberg (Eder) in Hesse. An iron foundry was attached to the hammer mill in 1913, which in 1958 led to the hammer mill being shut down in favor of expanding the foundry. The Eisenwerk Hasenclever and the Eisenwerk Brühl GmbH were merged in 1964, whereby Hasenclever was taken over by the Eisenwerk Brühl, but today operates again as an independent company.

In the cast iron division, turbine housings have also been manufactured from high-temperature-resistant cast steel since 2001 . In 2008, the foundry was realigned to focus on exhaust gas components for the automotive industry. Since 2010, large series production for cast steel has been carried out at the Battenberg location. In 2007 the company generated sales of around 120 million euros. In 2012, 700 employees generated sales of around 80 million euros.

Vocational training

In addition to various industrial-technical and commercial apprenticeships, Hasenclever offers the possibility of a dual study in industrial engineering . In addition, schoolchildren and students can get to know various professional fields through an internship or summer job.
