Ekkehard Mason

Ekkehard Maurer (born November 25, 1918 in Berlin ; † December 25, 2002 in Icking -Irschenhausen) was a German manager.

Career

Mauer was born as the son of Erich Maurer. He served eight years in the Wehrmacht as a soldier, including in the 11th / 67th Infantry Regiment as a first lieutenant . He was awarded the German Cross in Gold on April 1, 1942 . On December 7, 1944, he also received the honorary sheet clasp as captain of the II./ Pz.Gren.Rgt. 9 . After a serious wound, he completed a commercial apprenticeship. In 1952 he emigrated to Canada and later moved on to the United States. After returning to Germany, he was Managing Director of Wacker Chemie in Munich for 22 years .

From 1977 to March 1989 he was a member of the Presidium of the Goethe Institute , including four years as Vice President. He was a co-founder of the German Society of Friends of the Weizmann Institute and chairman of the Society for Foreign Studies .
