Heinrich Ekkehard Wolff

Heinrich Ekkehard Wolff (born August 25, 1944 in Stolp ) is a German Africanist .

Life

After graduating from the Katharineum in Lübeck in 1964, he studied at the University of Hamburg from 1964 to 1972 (major: African linguistics; minor subjects: general linguistics , ethnology ; other subjects: sociology , Finno-Ugric studies ). After receiving his doctorate in Hamburg in 1972 ( Die Verbalphrase des Laamang (Northeast Nigeria). A study on the morphology of Chadic languages ) and his habilitation in 1980 ( A grammar of the Lamang language (Gwàd Làmán) ), he taught there from 1981 to 1983 as a private lecturer in African languages and Cultures and from 1983 to 1994 as Professor of African Languages ​​and Cultures. From 1994 to 2009 he taught at the University of Leipzig as a professor for African studies.
