El Dorado Springs is a small town in Cedar County in the US state of Missouri in the United States . It had 3593 inhabitants at the 2010 census , making it the largest city in the district. Her name is mostly abbreviated to El Dorado .
geography
The city is located on US Highway 54 , which runs east-west , in the northwest corner of Cedar County, in southwest Missouri, in close proximity to St. Clair Counties and Vernon Counties . It has an area of 8 km², of which 0.025 km² is water. The distance to Springfield in the southeast is about 110 km and to Kansas City in the northwest about 160 km.
history
The city was founded in 1881 by the brothers Nathaniel and Waldo Cruce . They found that the water had a high mineral content and could be marketed as medicinally valuable . The city was named after this spring, which has been known as a healing spring ever since and attracts tourists as well as those seeking healing.
The annual tradition is the Founder's Day Picnic , which has been celebrated since the city was founded. Now extended to a three-night party, it attracts thousands of visitors every year. The city band, which has existed without interruption for over 100 years, is one of the oldest in the United States and continues to perform every weekend during the summer months of June, July, and August, as well as at special events.

According to the 2000 census, 3775 people in 1654 households and 984 families lived here. The population density was 473 inhabitants per km².
